Network like you mean it

Network like you mean it

You may have great credentials and fabulous work experience. Network poorly and you’ve failed to give your CV the cred it deserves.

The only time to network half-heartedly is when you are hoping for half-hearted, half-baked results. Assuming this is not your desired outcome, you need to master the art of ‘intelligent networking’. Many a person who is gainfully employed today put as much effort into their networking as they do into their current responsibilities.

You have a job. To get a job

You have a job. To get a job

Hope. That shiny, happy thing that throws an almost annoyingly fresh perspective on everything.

Le grand espoir sounds much more powerful in French. ‘I’m hopeful’ is a cute enough expression but to say you have a grand espoir inside of you that everything will turn out right, just has that je ne sais quoi about it.

Young minds have as much if not more potential than grey-templed experience, because what can run on tried–and-trusted, can also run on risky and unproven.

Leading firms breed their own leaders

Leading firms breed their own leaders

Becoming a successful leader takes persistence, creativity and stamina.

How leaders are bred

When it comes to grooming leaders, companies know that it’s not enough to train a few long-standing employees. These days it’s all about mentorship - leaders have to pass the baton on. Because what good is a leader when he retires and goes off to play golf, taking his knowledge and insight with him?

The exit interview

The exit interview

Not quite the one you’re thinking of, where you’ve paid your dues at Joe Bloggs Inc. and are now chatting to someone from HR about your experience. There is another kind of exit interview – the one where you effortlessly talk yourself out of a job by handling an interview with all the deftness and accuracy of a toddler catching a ball.

That exit interview.

The one where you leave the interview room and, they fervently hope, will never darken their doorway again.
